The Man I Was Born To Be

A trans man finds joy and peace in the irreverent humor of his new, authentic life, while navigating the grief of his closeted, abusive father’s death and the legal extraction from his narcissistic mother – proving that starting over at 60 comes with its own punchlines.

About me

My Story isn’t Over Yet

My Story Isn’t over yet.  Was from the last time I tired to commit suicide and my father saved my life.  I suffered from despression, suicidal  thoughts , anger and self hatred all my life until June 2023 when I realized I was not a women at 59 but a man trapped in a womans body.  My life changed for the better and I have never been happier.

Becoming Micky-Angelo. The Man I Was Born To Be

On March 10, 2024, I threw the biggest party of my life, the night Micky- Angelo Petrillo was officially introduced to the world.

More than fifty friends and family gathered to celebrate and witness a new beginning. For most of them, it was the first time seeing me since my surgeries on December 27, 2023, the first time meeting the man I had finally become.

The energy that night was electric, laughter, tears, and pure relief. After decades of hiding, I could finally stand in my truth and be celebrated for it. This event became the heartbeat of my personal story docuseries, The Man I Was Born To Be, a raw and joyful look at gender transition later in life and the power of self-acceptance. It’s more than just an LGBTQ+ storytelling project; it is a transformation video series about freedom, resilience, and the beauty of being seen

Chapters of Change – My Journal
Life does not always unfold the way we imagine, but when you start living it as your true self, even the hard chapters start to make sense.
From my ongoing personal transformation story, the milestones, the emotions, and the unexpected laughter along the way. Each post captures a piece of my journey to becoming the man I was meant to be, from the first injection to the moment I legally became Micky-Angelo Petrillo.

The day I started testosterone

This was the day everything shifted. The beginning of my transgender man story equal parts fear, excitement, and relief. I had waited nearly six decades to meet the real me, and that first dose of testosterone felt like permission to live. It wasn’t just a medical step, it was a moment of self-ownership. The day I started shaping the body that matched the man who’d always been inside.

A small about of gel changed my future and saved my past.

The day my name legally became Micky Angelo Petrillo

On paper, it looked simple, a few signatures, a court stamp. But for me, it was liberation.
The day my name legally became Micky-Angelo Petrillo was the day I finally saw my reflection match my reality. This was not just paperwork, it was validation, acknowledgment, and freedom rolled into one.
After a lifetime of silence, the world finally knew me by the name that always felt right.

That day, I did not just change my name. I claimed my life.
